Spring Concert - "Celebrate Music"
The Hartford Community Chorus presented, “Celebrate Music” for their annual Spring Concert on May 4th and 5th.
Under the direction of founding director, Ruth A. Knoll the chorus performed a variety of selections from classical Mozart to recent contemporary pop hits. Ken French was the accompanist.
The concert kicked off with a song sharing the same title, “Celebrate Music,” and sent a spirited message of the music festival about to be heard! Old favorites included: “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee,” “Gloria in Excelsis,” and “Beautiful Savior.” The second half of the concert focused on different levels of love. Edvard Grieg’s “I Love Thee” was performed in both English and German. “Suo-Gan” is a traditional Welsh Lullaby sung with tenderness and love. All enjoyed a medley from the very popular “Les Miserables.”
The concert was performed at two locations:
Saturday, May 4, 2013
7:30 p.m. Holy Hill (upper church)
Sunday, May 5, 2013
3:00 p.m. Schauer Center, Hartford (Ruth A. Knoll Theater)
Rehearsals for Spring Concerts Underway
The 53rd season for the Hartford Community Chorus has begun, as chorus members have started gathering at rehearsals for our Spring 2013 concerts.
The Chorus is a sponsored activity of the Hartford Recreation Dept. with additional support from the Schauer Center. Each year the Chorus presents two seasonal concerts with identical performances held in two separate venues. This season’s concerts will be on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper Church at Holy Hill and again on Sunday May 5, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ruth A. Knoll Theater at the Schauer Center.
There is no charge for our concerts though a free ticket is required at the Schauer Center.
Free-will donations at concerts aid in our support.

Dec. 4th & 5th Christmas Concerts Well Attended
The chorus would like to thank the Hartford High School Chamber Choir and their director, Mr. Ernest Brusubardis III, for their participation in making our Christmas Concerts resounding successes.
We are also grateful to all of our soloists, our accompanist Ken French, our Assistant Director Stephanie Funk, our ushers, and the staff at Holy Hill and the Schauer Center. As always, Ms. Knoll deserves much credit for preparing us well and directing with skill and heart.
Both concerts were very well attended, with receptive and enthusiastic audiences. Many thanks for all the generous free will donations - they go a long way to ensure the future of the HCC!
